Business Needs Analysis

The purpose of any project is to bring about a change that is an improvement for the business - for example, higher output, improved quality, lower costs, and demonstrable compliance.

To be able to describe this improvement and to find the project which best achieves it the project team must understand how the business sees itself in the future; its Vision, and how it intends to achieve that; its Strategy. The task for the project team is then to consider a range of options for achieving the improvement, ensuring the chosen option meets the needs of the business at the optimum cost.
